We reconvened from the summer break and it was superb to see so many familiar faces with thirteen members in attendance. Additionally we had three visiting toastmasters in Finbarr Harty, Tom Hebel and Kevin Murphy. Six guests also came to enjoy the Toastmaster experience!
Our President Andrea kicked off the meeting with a warm welcome before the usual order of business commenced. Promise was our word of the day and the meeting was certainly full of it and the speeches absolutely delivered;
First up was Neil O’Brien who gave us the cliffnote learnings from Dale Carnegie's classic, “How to Win Friends and Influence People”
Next, Moira O’Brien gave a presentation speech on our dwindling water resource; highlighting the problems we face as a society and fielding questions at the end as part of the project requirements.
Both speeches were as insightful as they were enjoyable. Table topics were fielded by Neil Whelan who covered the full gamut of summary activities - from the usual Irish topics of weather to the Olympics.
Following the evaluations by both Mary Walsh and Celine Hayes, we were treated to a general evaluation by Finbar Harty who praised the high standards which Blarney sets.
Guest Agnieszka Pulfer took home the Best Table Topics award for informing us about Bryan Tracey while Kevin Murphy took home the Grammarian award for usage of word of the day.
Club business concluded with notes from:
