With attendance of 18 members and two welcome guests, one of whom signed up as a member on the night, the club continues it's "unabated" growth.
The meeting on March 29th was slightly out of the ordinary for this year in that there were two advanced speeches. Toastmaster for the night Moira O'Brien introduced Maria Gillen with her speech, from the Public Relations manual No 3 - The Persuasive Approach, entitled Intergenerational which was evaluated by Anita Lenihan and was well received, followed by Sharon O'Neill with her speech, from the Storytelling Manual no 5 - Bringing History to Life, entitled "Lament", evaluated by Andrea Jahn, also very well received.
New (but experienced) member & Table Topics Master Mary Walsh then challenged us to come up to the top of the room to give our Table Topics responses and this certainly made for an enjoyable table topics session. Given that the meeting theme was The Rising 1916, inevitably the most popular topic was 1916. The best responder award was given to Maria Gillen.
General Evaluator Vincent Sullivan the gave the overall meeting evaluation aided by Ah Counter Andrea Jahn, Grammarian Anita Murphy and Timekeeper Neil O'Brien. Jerome O'Donovan ably undertook the Sergeant at Arms role with his usual courtesy and good humour.
The next meeting is our club International Speech and Evaluation contests on March 29th.
