Announcement: A Meeting with Fulsome Wordplay - June 28th |
Posted: Moiraobrien @ 30 Jun 16, 00:44 |
As you can guess, the word of the day, chosen by Grammarian Sharon O'Neill was "Fulsome" and the winner of the prize for most uses of the word was the instigator of this prize system, Ted Mellamphy!
Toastmaster for the night Celine Hayes introduced two speakers. The first was from Louise Murphy with a confident and well prepared CC3 speech entitled always be yourself. Her evaluator was Mary Walsh, and both Mary and Lousie won the ribbons for best evaluator and best speaker. The second speaker was Moira O'Brien with a speech from the Speaking to Inform manual entitled "Wholemeal Spel Bread" which she demonstrated to the meeting (recipe details are on our Facebook page. Her evaluator was Victor Sullivan. At the end of her speech she gave "one for everyone in the audience" - well, a slice anyway!
The table topic session was conducted by Neil O'Brien. Rather unusually, the riboon for best table topic was presenter to Neil! - well, why not?
The general evaluator Ted Mellamphy was assisted by Sergeant at Arms Victor Sullivan, Ah-Counter Anita Murphy and Timekeeper visiting toastmaster Tom Hebel (both stepping in at the last moment) and of course, grammarian Sharon O'Neill.
Andrea Jahn stood in as president.
