On Saturday 21st of October, we had yet another great meeting of Bishopstown Toastmasters! Krystal Long achieved the Competent Communicator award! Well done Krystal! :)
Stand-in President Maria Gillen opened the meeting at 11am ands he quickly handed over to the Toastmaster for the day who was Mike Mulcahy. Mike expertly presented the various stages of the meeting.
Mike introduced the speech section of the meeting - there were 3 prepared speeches. Sharon Greally gave the first speech and it was called "Birth Order theory". This speech was all about how the order you are born in affects your life. The next speech was called "We all have Dreams" and was given by Krystal Long. Krystal gave a really inspirational speech to complete her CC. The next speech was called "Caveat emptor" and was given by Vera Murphy. Vera gave a great speech about the need for the buyer to be aware.
Next, we moved on to the topics section of the meeting.
Carol O'Donovan was the Table Topics Master on the day. Carol had a good mix of topics on the day. The Ah Counter on the morning was Anita Howard, the Timekeeper was Jill Roche-Cagney and the Grammarian was Damian Loftus. Anita's choice for Word of the Day was Beguile, meaning "to influence by trickery"; this word was used many times! There were 3 evaluators - Murt Ó'Súilleabháin, Helena Dunne and Tony Hayes. The General Evaluator was Theresa Lynch. Each of the roles was carried out excellently.
Our next meeting again is on Saturday 4th of November at the usual time of 11am. As always guests are very welcome to attend.
The library has asked the club not to enter the room until 10.45 am. Please endeavour to abide by this request
