[b:9e6a75082a]Thanks to all who participated in Area 4's officer training yesterday, and for such positive feedback.[/b:9e6a75082a]

In your feedback, 50% of all of the ratings were 'Excellent' and 95% were either 'Excellent' or 'Very Good'.

You said that the areas that were most helpful were the group work/discussions (8 people) and talking to other people doing the same role in other clubs (6 people), and how the roles work together for the good of the club (2).

The topics that people gained most from were around recruitment (3), retention (2), mentoring (4).

People got ideas like running more vibrant meetings, planning ahead, having standby speeches & topics, sending out minutes to guests, using social events as recruitment drives, PR officers from the different clubs working together.

In terms of less helpful elements, one person felt the area council fell into the category and another felt that the finance agenda item was less helpful. One person felt that the work group by officer roles was less helpful, and one that the distance to travel was a too far.

One person said that we could have covered more on what the different roles entail - there is a description of each of the roles on the D71 website if anyone would like more info. - officer role descriptions.

Attached, please find the minutes of the Area Council.

I have the notes from two of the world cafes, so I've put those notes into discussions so you have the info, and if you want to discuss further, you can do so on the D71 website - click here for Mentoring, and click here for Retaining Members. I wasn't so on the ball to capture the third set of notes, so if anyone has them (getting new members), then please send the details through to me or upload them onto the website.

Following up on some of the discussions on the night;
- A quick reminder to Presidents to link up on setting contest dates and swapping over judges.
- Public Relations VPs have the opportunity to use the photos and details of the event to produce a press release about the new Toastmasters Year, the Training Event, the New Executive - feel free to use the information here, and if there is any other information or support we can provide, just let us know - don't forget we have Belinda as Assistant Area Governor (Marketing) to help.

So, in summary, a big thank you to everyone who attended the Club Officer Training last Thursday, for your support and your positive feedback. I'd also like to thank Rose Marie as Assistant Area Governor (Education & Training) for her support in getting it set up, and Mary, Belinda, Gill and Khai-Eng for running their sessions so well.

To everyone, I wish you your club a successful year, going from strength to strength, and to you, I hope you achieve your personal goals in your new officer role.

I look forward to working with such a strong team in 2010/2011!
