Our Speech and Evaluation Contests were well supported and hotly contested.
Aaron O’Sullivan opened the meeting as Sergeant at Arms.
Ann Carver was Contest Chair and after explaining the procedures moved swiftly on to the speakers.
There were four speakers – Russell Streeter, a new member but a longstanding Toastmaster from Solent, Ian Millen, Ray Adams and Keith Oliver.
Russell kicked us off with “How to Save life” explaining how by being pushy he and his wife had helped save their daughter from leukaemia.
Ian Millen followed with “Three Little Letters” explaining the importance of being a Dad.
Ray Adams then talked about how to achieve “High Performance”, before Keith Oliver concluded with “If you don’t risk anything you could risk everything“.
With the judging complete we then moved to the break.
The second half of the meeting was the Evaluation Contest with Russell Streeter, Ian Millen, Keith Oliver and Wendy Benson participating.
Marie Newman gave the target speech “The Leapling” about her niece who was born on February 29th and is autistic.
While the evaluators retired to get their thoughts in order Ann Carver led a brief warm-up session, asking those present about their footwear.
Four excellent evaluations followed, before the judging was again completed.
It only left the presentations to be given out, before Wendy Benson concluded with Club Business
