Nearly half the year gone and at last the weather favoured us with a warm sunny evening in keeping with our theme of summer.
Keith Oliver took the lectern as Toastmaster and welcomed a good sized audience, running through his role, the Toastmasters programme and protocols, before introducing Zoe Hoy as Timekeeper and Robin Chawner who gave us the word of the evening "surmount".
Michael John Smithson got us all on our feet as we revealed what we liked about summer - with bbq's, gardens, beaches and the warm weather making this one of our favourite seasons.
Wenextwelcomed Antonia Harrison, from Solent Speakers who spoke on "Oh no its Monday", regaling us with many facts about Monday before inspiring us to make the most of the new week. Next up was Wendy Benson who gave us another of her stories - this time about the exploits of Lanky the Lamb, before Paul Winfield talked us through "The Car Confusion" and the minefield of choosing a car.
After our network break we returned to Table Topics with Keith presenting a series of actual interview questions for our "willing " volunteers. Topics ranged from banking to shopping at M & S, from winning a £1m to putting a giraffe in a fridge.
Next up we had three excellent evaluations from Gavin Meikle, Brent Crouch and Michael John giving the feedback.
Robin Chawner reported on an the use of language with amazing alliterations aplenty, and some good use fo word painting.
Wendy Benson gave the overall General Evaluation, before Keith reported on club business, drawign attention to the next meeting when we hope to have the National Evaluation champion and National speech finalist John Webber attending. He also reported that he and John were hoping to do an interview on the local radio, Express FM later.
Michael John gave out the awards, before drawing the meeting to a close.
