Welcome to Portobello Communicators. This is the newest Toastmasters International club in town, bringing our unique mix of training and practice at public and impromtu speaking in a supportive club setting.
Our very first meeting was on the 22nd June 2016. See the next meeting date in the box on the far right with the thumbs up/down symbols. If you want to come along free of charge as a guest to see what it's like, just click on the thumbs up to let us know that you're coming along. If you've been before, we'll email a link to the meeting page where you can click the thumbs up if you want to come along again. Or just turn up.
We meet fortnightly at 7.15 for a 7.30pm start at the Dalriada (at the Joppa end of the Prom). Come in and turn right through the small room to the bigger room at the back.
There will be plenty of experienced Toastmasters from other Edinburgh clubs to help you. And a chance to have a go yourself with a tiny bit of public speaking in the introductions round.
Come and experience first-hand the friendly supportive methodology that has made Toastmasters the world's largest public speaking organisation with clubs in 142 countries.
As we're a non profit organisation run by volunteers, our clubs are affordable and accessible to anyone over 18. Members range from professional speakers to recovering stammerers and non-native English speakers. Everyone that gets stuck into the program makes progress to become a more condident speaker and leader.
Why do we call ourselves Toastmasters? Well, every toast involves somebody standing up and speaking and encouraging others to join in to celebrate something. We celebrate people getting up to speak with applause and encouragement, plus constructive feedback.
Here's to your Toastmasters journey! Cheers! |
