Dear Div D, Area 8 Toastmasters,
It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself (briefly!) and welcome all newcomers, current Toastmasters in Area 8 and indeed all prospective and past Toastmasters to the wonderful organisation that is Toastmasters.
I have accepted the role of AD for Area 8, Div. D for 2017/18.
Here, in our Toastmaster (TM) clubs, you will access skills in a supportive learning environment that will enhance your ability to communicate effectively, listen attentively and think clearly. All of these skills are identified as most important in developing leadership abilities.
Remember to share the wonderful gift you have accessed through your TM club with others. 'Word of mouth' is recognised as the most important method of encouraging new members to join our clubs.
Our Area 8 has 5 clubs at the moment:
- Cashel Toastmasters
- Clonmel Toastmasters
- Dungarvan Toastmasters
- DLS Communicators
- The Tower Toastmasters Waterford
And... we hope to have another club chartered in the area this year or next.
As my previous role holder, Ursula (see below), stated:
I am available to help our clubs and individual members, to the best of my ability, at your request, throughout the 2017/18 TM year.

We already completed our Div Training back in August - all organised by our previous Div. Dir. Gearóid Murphy.
Out new Div. Dir. is Jane Mooney and I know you will all join with me in welcoming Jane to the role and wishing her every success.
Our current, upcoming event is the Area 8 final is the Humorous and Table Topics in the Tower Hotel, Waterford on Friday 13th October, 2017.
We hope to see you all there supporting your club representatives.

Two particular aspects of TM that I'd like to bring to your attention both for your club and your personal consideration:
1) The wonderful tool that Easy Speak - I would really like to encourage all clubs to check out this wonderful software
2) The Community programmes of Speechcraft; Youth Leadership Programme; Interpersonal Communication Programme.
