About Our Club

Canterbury Communicators runs educational training programs that help people to develope life enhancing presentation and communication skills

  • Conducting Meetings

Meetings usually begin with a short business session which helps members learn meeting procedures, followed by a Thought of the Day

  • Giving Impromptu Speeches

Members present one-to two-minute impromptu speeches on assigned topics, so called Table Topics

  • Presenting Prepared Speeches

Three or more members present speeches based on projects from the Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership Program manuals.

Projects cover such topics as speech organization, voice, language, gestures and persuasion

  • Offering Constructive Evaluation

Every prepared speaker is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement

  • The Tools You Use

When joining a Toastmasters club, each new member receives a variety of manuals and resources on speaking.

Members also have access to other books as well as audio and video cassettes on speaking and leading. They also receive the award-winning The Toastmaster, a monthly magazine that offers the latest insights on speaking and leadership techniques

We meet every 2nd 3rd and 4th Tuesday of every month at 19.15 for a 19.30 prompt start.

Our meeting location is:

The Business Centre

Canterbury College

The Toastmasters Mission
A statement of shared values

Every Toastmasters club shares the same mission, clearly defined in the following mission statement:

We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater selfconfidence and personal growth.

Through this mission, each Toastmaster gains a clear understanding of the club's purpose, and the organization as a whole benefits from a shared set of values and goals.
