Description The role and responsibilities of the Vice President of Education
Category Toastmaster Officers  Type Information

Vice President of Education

The VPE is responsible for planning successful club meetings which provide each member the opportunity to achieve his or her educational goals.

Specific duties include:

* Schedule upcoming roles for Club meetings, ensuring a fair rotation among members. Prepare each agenda.

* In coordination with each Toastmaster of the meeting, ensure Club meetings are well prepared and participants know about their meeting roles.

* Find out each member's current needs (the reasons they joined or renewed) then schedule accordingly and monitor progress.

* Make educational award applications to World Headquarters. The easiest way to do this is online at Club Central (you need to login) but completed application forms can also be emailed, faxed or posted. Any queries can be emailed to: educationawards@toastmasters.org

* Ensure that a new member receives orientation to Club procedures and the Toastmasters educational programme and is assigned a Mentor if desired.

* Co-ordinate the Competent Leadership programme.

* In the absence of the President, preside at Club and Committee meetings.

* Go to District conferences and vote in the District Council business meetings. (The President also has a vote.) Arrange a proxy if unable to attend - example at the bottom of the page here.
