Cheltenham Speakers – Timekeeper Guidance

Before the Meeting:

  • Note the timings lay out of speeches and any unusual requirements.

  • Prepare your Timekeeper role explanation (this is harder than it first seems!)

At the Meeting:

  • Help to set up lights as required

  • Ensure lights work and are visible from the front

  • Ensure you have a copy of the timekeepers form to fill out

  • Check to see if any speaker may require vocal time signals instead of the lights.

During the Meeting:

  • Deliver your role explanation from the back of the room while seated. Demonstrate how the lights will work.

  • Time speeches and roles as per the agenda

  • Report as requested by the Toastmaster

After the Meeting:

  • Help pack away the lights under supervision of the Sergeant at arms
