General Information

The Greeter’s role is to welcome everyone to the club meeting, particularly visitors and people who are new to Toastmasters. Making everyone feel welcome at our club is important, as this may be the start of their Toastmasters journey.

  • Confirm online that you have accepted the role and that you will be attending the meeting

  • If, through extreme and unavoidable circumstances, you find that you are unable to carry out this role you will need to find a replacement. Please liaise with the Chairperson in finding a suitable replacement

At the Meeting

Arrive in plenty of time before the meeting between 6:45 - 7:00 pm. As guests arrive:

  • Introduce yourself
  • Give them a Guest’s name badge (if available)
  • Explain what is going to happen during the meeting and ensure that they have an agenda. In particular, mention:
    • No one has to speak if they do not want to, but before the break, guests will be invited to stand up and introduce themselves
    • Everyone is asked to assist speakers by completing an evaluation form for Prepared Speeches
  • Introduce the guest to another member of the club (e.g. the President, Chairperson, the Toastmaster if they are available)
  • Check that the guest has:
    • a pen
    • evaluation forms
  • Ask another member to sit beside them and explain what is happening as the meeting progresses
  • If they are a general evaluator from another club:
    • Mention that they can request their video to the videomaster
    • Show them to the General Evaluator seat
