General Information

Warm Down

Ask each person in the room to share one thing they will take away from the evening (should take no more than 15 seconds).

The purpose of this role is to round off the evening; it is particularly helpful for allowing guests and new members who may have been too afraid to participate at the beginning of the evening to have a final opportunity to speak before the meeting finishes.

Typical answers may include something a member has learned about public speaking or about a member, maybe a particular phrase or new word they've heard, or perhaps some personal feedback or encouragement they may have been given.

Indicate very clearly who you want to speak each time - preferably introducing each attendee by name. Do not lose control with everyone looking round wondering if it is their turn.

Anyone who does not want to speak can say 'pass'. In this event you move swiftly on, without embarrassing the person who has declined to speak.

The Warm Down can be very encouraging for guests, who often mention voluntarily whether they've enjoyed the evening and whether they intend to visit again, or even join.
