Ballot Counter

The purpose of the Ballot Counter is to collect and count ballots to determine the 'Best Speaker' for whatever roles the club has decided to vote on. The role or roles could be any or all of: Prepared Speaker, Table Topics Speaker and Evaluator.

In some clubs only members are allowed to vote.

Prior to the meeting:

    · Prepare a brief explanation of the duties of the Ballot Counter for the benefit of guests, including voting criteria.

During the meeting:

    · Upon arrival, obtain any award certificates from the Sergeant-at-Arms

    · When introduced, explain the role of the Ballot Counter. If appplicable in your club, mention that only members are allowed to vote but everyone present is welcome to write notes of encouragement and edification.

    · If your club applies time disqualifications, note those speakers who do not keep to time.

    · At the end of each section of the meeting in which voting applies, collect the ballot papers.

    · Tally the votes as quickly as possible. You can use your own vote as a tie-breaking decider in the event of a tie.

    · Fill in any certificates.

    · Announce the winner(s) when called upon and award any certificates.

After the meeting:

    · Give your completed report to the club Secretary.
