About Our Club |
Powertalk welcomes all Toastmasters and prospective Toastmasters. It especially welcomes members who have reached at least Stage 6 in the CC and higher. It is NOT an elite Club; it is a Community Club which promotes higher levels of achievement among its members; it is welcoming of all, and especially of guests.
Members, Guests and Visitors can further develop their skills both inside and outside of the club environment by participating in advanced programs, speaker series, and workshops, as well as leadership and volunteer opportunities.
Powertalk sets out to organise meetings and events both as Club Meetings, Special Events and pop-up workshops and assist other Clubs to host advanced speakers and leadership programs. It aims to develop advanced speakers, and provide a pool of advanced speakers for workshops.
Powertalk also aims to continue its co-operation with other Clubs in organising Quarterly Special meetings in its “Spectacular” series; it does this by inviting renowned speakers and leaders and coupling these with presentations from within the Club and District.
Powertalk will also run Advanced Speaker “Speakathrons”; these will give members and guests an opportunity to present the longer advanced speeches at special sessions; the aim is to relieve pressure on Club Agendas from these, and by concentrating them in to possible Saturday Morning sessions, to run A&E Clinics for advanced speakers and aspiring DTM’s
Powertalk runs more intensive and searching Evaluations of its speakers than would necessarily be appropriate in mixed club settings; Evaluations are usually done after each speech; it also runs “Evaluation of the Evaluators” immediately after each evaluation, thus helping to constantly improve the standard of Evaluations.
Powertalk has also made a habit of inviting speakers going forward to District Contests an opportunity of presenting their speeches in a far more intensively but positively evaluation and advice session.
Powertalk especially welcomes other Toastmaster Club Members who wish to observe, to take up meeting Roles. It uses Easispeak, so participants CL, CC and advanced credits are recorded on line.

The Toastmasters Mission A statement of shared values
Every Toastmasters club shares the same mission, clearly defined in the following mission statement:
We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater selfconfidence and personal growth.
Through this mission, each Toastmaster gains a clear understanding of the club's purpose, and the organization as a whole benefits from a shared set of values and goals.

If you are interested please do come along. Otherwise please email us or contact an officer for more information.
We encourage dual members of other Clubs who want to pursue their Toastmasters Goals. We would expect all of our members to become proficient in the use of the toastmastersclub.org (old D71) site, and to set and follow up on their goals using the site.
