Welcome to Haymarket Toastmasters!
Haymarket Toastmasters is a branch of Toastmasters International in Edinburgh.
Public speaking
Being a member of Toastmasters gives you the skills and confidence you need to express yourself in any situation. You will learn to be more persuasive and confident when giving presentations and you will improve your one-on-one dealings with others. Our environment is friendly and supportive and whenever you speak, you will receive encouraging, helpful feedback on how it went and how you can further improve every time. This proven method will help you build your confidence and skills quickly and affordably!
We meet fortnightly on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Leanardo 4 Room, at the Edinburgh Haymarket Leonardo Royal Hotel, at 1 Morrison Link, Edinburgh, EH3 8DN.
During a Meeting
Guests are welcome at every meeting and you can sit back and simply watch the evening unfold. You will find a copy of the meeting agenda on your seat with details of our role players, speakers and timings for the evening.
Prepared speeches are only one aspect of the Toastmasters experience. The various meeting roles encourage our members to practise and learn different skills and to build confidence in many areas of communication and leadership.
Mentoring and Support
When you join the club you will be assigned a mentor, if you wish. Your mentor will induct you into the club, help you to progress through your manuals and improve your communication and leadership skills. You will be learning from an experienced club member in a positive and supportive environment.
Costs
Toastmasters is a not-for-profit organisation and is run entirely by volunteers. Members pay a fee which contributes to the smooth and successful running of our club. There is also a one-off fee of £20 when you first join Toastmasters for your new Member Pack and this includes your first two manuals to work towards your internationally recognised communications and leadership qualifications. After that, the advanced vocational manuals will help you develop relevant communications and leadership skills and further qualifications.
Joining the club
If you enjoyed your experience as a guest, then I hope your final question will be “How do I join?”, if so please complete a membership form, together with your joining fee, and give them to the Vice President Membership at the next meeting or email them to haymarkettoastmasters@gmail.com. ic speaking learning presenting practice
